The INITIAL F range consists of sterile single-use solutions dedicated to forefoot arthrodesis, in particular of the first metatarsophalangeal (MTP) joint and the Lapidus procedure.
In these indications, Lapidus arthrodesis is a widely recognized surgical procedure for the treatment of moderate to severe hallux valgus, particularly in cases of first ray hypermobility1, and is increasingly performed worldwide for recurrent or unstable deformities. Arthrodesis of the first metatarsophalangeal (MTP) joint is considered the gold standard treatment for advanced stages of hallux rigidus, the most common form of foot osteoarthritis3.
In this context, Newclip Technics has developed single-use kits designed to address the challenges of standardization, logistical simplification, and infection risk control, while providing everything necessary for the proper execution of the surgical procedure.
Each kit includes one plate size, its screws, and the associated instrumentation in a sterile ready-to-use format. It enables surgeons and healthcare staff to reduce preparation time and contributes to improved operating room organization.

The INITIAL F – Lapidus kits consist of two blisters:
- The first is used for the implantation of the plate and associated screws. It includes the plate, screws (locked and non-locked), pins, T8 quick-release screwdriver, length gauge, quick-release drill, threaded guide gauge, handle for guide gauge, as well as pins of different lengths and diameters.
- It is also possible to place a Ø4.0 mm head compression screw in addition to the plate, which is why the kit includes a second blister with the necessary instrumentation for proper implantation of this screw. This blister contains an AO quick-release drill, pins, a 2-in-1 instrument, and a differential pin gauge.
These 6 kits are available in 3 plantar plate sizes for the right and left sides.
INITIAL F – Lapidus
The plantar Lapidus plates have been designed to allow compression of the osteotomy site.
They feature a transfixing screw to achieve compression between the 1st metatarsal and the 1st cuneiform.
These plates have been designed for high adaptability, notably through the use of grade 2 titanium.
*The compression screws are not included in the IINITIAL F – Lapidus Kit (only the instrumentation is included); they are available separately in sterile single-unit packaging (S-box).

The INITIAL F – MTP kits consist of implants and instrumentation for performing arthrodesis of the first metatarsophalangeal joint (MTP). Each kit includes one plate size, screws (locked and non-locked), pins, a screwdriver, a length gauge, a handle for the guide gauge, a quick-release drill, and a threaded guide gauge.

- 3 standard plate sizes for the right and left sides
- 1 narrow plate size for the right and left sides
To prepare the joint surface, single-use convex and concave burr kits (in 3 different diameters) are also offered.
The plate design requires a medial approach, facilitating access to the posts positioned dorsomedially on the joint.
Additionally, the plate incorporates a transfixing screw passing across the MTP joint. These plates also feature an oblong post with a ramp to allow simple and controlled compression through the screw/plate interface.
